Ford Figo Aspire Revealed At New Sanand Facility In India
American based automobile giant, Ford inaugurated its new facility in Sanand, Gujarat on 26th March, 2015. They also took the opportunity to showcase their new vehicle for India.
Ford India had showcased its concept compact sedan at 2014 Auto Expo. The manufacturer has christened this vehicle as ‘Figo Aspire' and is slated for an Indian launch during 2015.
Figo Aspire will have to compete with tough contenders in India, that are established in compact sedan segment. Ford's new vehicle will have to take on Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Toyota Etios.
Mark Fields, President and CEO, Ford Motor Company, commented, "With the new Figo Aspire, we are challenging consumers to expect more from their car. The Ford Figo Aspire demonstrates that a small sedan can boast refined, modern design, exceptional craftsmanship, excellent safety and an outstanding array of smart technologies."
Ford will use its Sanand facility to manufacture their Figo Aspire for both local as well as global markets. The manufacturer believes compact sedan segment will grow to 1.6 million units by 2018 and their vehicle will play key role.
Ford will provide its Figo Aspire with both petrol and diesel engines. It will receive a 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel mill. Performance figures have not been revealed so far, however, it will be great on fuel efficiency and performance.
