Maybach To Return In The Form Of Top-End Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Daimler will bring back the Maybach nameplate two years after it discontinued the luxury car brand owing to poor sales. The Maybach name will return in the form of a top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz S-Class variant.
The ultra luxurious version of the S-Class will use features such as soft-touch leather and other exclusive luxury materials and components to make it worthy of carrying the Maybach bonnet ornament.

The new Maybach model will have a wheelbase that is 200mm longer than the S-Class extended version, making space for more legroom. This will become the longest car sold by Daimler, until the launch of the S-Class Pullman version.
The range topping Mercedes-Benz S-Class variant will compete against other luxury brands such as BMW's Rolls-Royce and VW's Bentley in trying to get the interest of millionaires in the U.S and Asia, especially in China, who have a huge appetite for European luxury cars.
As such, the new S-Class based Maybach will be showcased at the Guangzhou and Los Angeles auto shows this year.
As for the price of the new Maybach, it will cost twice as much as the Mercedes-Benz S600, which itself comes for €165,000 in Germany.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Pullman, a state limousine, is expected to have a wheelbase that's longer by a meter in compared to the Maybach and in its armour-plated form would cost as much as a million dollars.
