Formula One: Williams Unveils 2017 FW40 Challenger
Williams will have a new driver line-up for the 2017 season after Valtteri Bottas left to join Mercedes.
Williams Martini Racing has become the first Formula One team to release the images of 2017 F1 challenger ahead of its official unveiling. The new FW40 launch is scheduled for February 25.
The Williams FW40 becomes the first car designed to according F1's new rules for this season. This year, F1 has undergone a massive overhaul of its technical regulations in order to make the cars faster.
From the revealed images, it is clear that the new F1 car is longer and wider. The tyres are now wider, the wedge-shaped front is wider and a redesigned rear wing is the only thing that is smaller when compared to the 2016 F1 cars.
The changes are expected to place a greater physical demand on the drivers. The new wide rubbers will continue to be supplied by Pirelli which will provide more mechanical grip.
Williams will have a new driver line-up for the 2017 season after Valtteri Bottas left to join Mercedes. The new FW40 will be driven by unretiring Felipe Massa, who will be joined by 18-year-old rookie Lance Stroll.
