Williams Reveal 2017 Formula 1 Challenger — Massa's Post-Retirement Racer Is Here
Williams Martini Racing has revealed its 2017 season challenger, the FW40. The new car is more or less identical to its 2016 version.
Williams Martini Racing Formula 1 team has revealed its 2017 challenger, the FW40. The new car looks similar compared to the 2016 season car.
The biggest change on the 2017 FW40 is that the engine cover now features a full shark fin similar to those of Sauber, Renault, Force India, Ferrari and McLaren. Other than that, rest of the car remains almost identical to its previous model.
The side pods and air intake on the new 2017 Williams FW40 receive subtle changes; whereas, the bargeboard area remains more or less same as the rendered version of the car revealed last week.
The new car will make its track debut during the pre-season testing in Spain on February 27, 2017. Williams driver Felipe Massa will be behind the wheel. Massa's teammate, F1 rookie, Lance Stroll will drive the car on the second day of testing.
In a statement, Williams Martini Racing said, "Although cosmetically the 2017 cars will look very different to their 2016 predecessors, the core of the car, the power unit and the areas situated around the power unit, have not changed a great deal."
With the launch of Williams F1 car, it leaves only Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Haas as the three Formula 1 teams to yet to unveil their car. All the three teams will present the 2017 challengers on February 26, 2017.
