Volvo And Autoliv Partner With Nvidia For Self-Driving Cars

Swedish automaker Volvo and Autoliv has partnered with Nvidia to develop self-driving technology.

Volvo Cars and Swedish car safety supplier, Autoliv have partnered with Nvidia to develop software systems for self-driving cars.

Volvo and Autoliv have formed a joint venture to work with Nvidia. The partnership will work to develop systems which use artificial intelligence to recognise objects around vehicles, identify threats and navigate safely.

The joint venture has been set up in 2016 and named as Zenuity. It will provide Volvo with self-driving technology software, and Autoliv will sell the technology to other automakers.

Volvo stated that the company aims to have fully autonomous cars on the market by 2021. The Swedish carmaker has been using Nvidia's AI system in semi-autonomous vehicles from 2017.

On the other hand, Nvidia has also partnered with automotive giants such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. BMW has also joined the race by partnering with Intel and Mobileye.
