Volkswagen Up GTI Revealed — The Hot Hatch That India Deserves!
The company has finally lifted the cover off the GTI version of the Up hatchback.
Volkswagen has announced a GTI version of the Up hatchback. Five years after the Up's launch, the manufacturer has finally decided to roll out a faster variant.
It is obvious that the Up will be wearing the GTI badge up front, along with all of the GTI elements such as the red-striped grille and tartan seats. Even the colour options offered on the Up GTI will be the same as the current gen Golf GTI.
With a production version confirmed for the near future, the Up GTI will use a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine with a power output of 113bhp and 147lb ft peak torque. If you have doubts about the car's power? You should keep in mind that the car weighs just 997kg.
That means, the car will be capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 8.8sec time and it can hit a top speed of 190km/h. The numbers might be modest, but the car will be way more enjoyable in the real world with accessible performance.
There's also a 15mm drop in clearance and some minor tweaking underneath to make the car sharp in corners, but the Up is already a good car to drive as standard.
DriveSpark thinks, the power hatch would've been perfect for the Indian market, but any news regarding the arrival of the car to India is still unclear.
