Spy Pics: Volkswagen T-Roc SUV Spotted
The Volkswagen T-Roc crossover has been spied with a very minimal level of camouflage.
Spy photographers have caught a Volkswagen T-Roc SUV as it was being loaded onto a truck, revealing the design language VW will take for its smaller crossovers.
The spy images by Carmagazine of the Volkswagen T-Roc provides us with our best look yet at the new Golf-sized SUV that will slot below its bigger sibling Tiguan. With this car's disguise limited primarily to chrome around the grille, headlights, sills, and driving lights.
Upon closer look, you'll notice both headlights and taillights are masked. Also, there appears to be a layer of disguise used onto the C-pillar. Nonetheless, these spy pics give an accurate image of what to expect from the final product.
Built on the ultra-flexible MQB platform from VW, the T-Roc features a high roofline and aggressively slanted rear hatch compared to the VW Tiguan, with more noticeable chrome accents all the way around.
The T-Roc's adopts a more modern styling, with trapezoidal chrome trim and a single horizontal trim line splitting the grille. Designers are also switching to LED lighting elements front and rear.
The VW T-Roc si expected to be powered by a selection of turbocharged petrol and diesel powertrains mated to a manual or the dual-clutch gearbox, along with the choice of either front- or all-wheel drive.
The T-Roc would be available with turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder and 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines. A performance variant with a 2.0-litre turbo borrowed from the Golf GTI could be offered as well, also, a plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions.
Upon launch, the Volkswagen T-Roc will rival the likes of the Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008.
