Volkswagen Reveals The 2017 Ameo Cup Car Details
Volkswagen Motorsport India has revealed the details of the Ameo Cup car. The car is completely built at the Volkswagen Pune plant similar to its road-spec variant.
Volkswagen Motorsport India is all geared up to kick-off the 2017 season of its one-make racing series, the Ameo Cup. Ahead of that the official details of the car were revealed.
Similar to the Ameo sedan, the Ameo Cup car has been entirely developed at the Volkswagen Pune plant. The car draws power from a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 202bhp and 320Nm of torque.
The Ameo Cup car is equipped with a 6-speed racing sequential gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The car gets new 17-inch wheels and specially developed MRF tyres. Braking duties are handled by 34mm ventilated discs up front and 232mm discs at the rear.
Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, Sirish Vissa said, "The car is unlike anything Indian motorsport has seen from the Volkswagen's stable. It has more power and amazing handling, yet it is simple enough for budding racers to learn on."
He added, "The race machine is on par with international standards and the new elements in the car make it possible to take our one-make series to a new high."
The 2017 season of the Ameo Cup will kick-start in June at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. Later on, a couple of rounds will be held at MMRT in Chennai and one round at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC).
