Volkswagen I.D Crossover Teased Ahead Of Shanghai Auto Show Reveal
Volkswagen’s first all-electric crossover concept car will feature coupe-like styling.
Volkswagen has released some teaser pictures for the upcoming concept that will boast all-wheel drive and self-driving features.
The German carmaker's first all-electric crossover concept car will feature coupe-like styling. It will also be the third I.D. concept from the VW, after revealing the original I.D. at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and the I.D. Buzz in Detroit in 2017.
Volkswagen is calling it an electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV) - a four-door coupe and sport-utility vehicle (SUV) in one.
The teaser image, along with a 10-second video that supplements it, appear to indicate the lines include at least an incomplete trunk and a sedan-like rear.
The German carmaker is trying to shake off its massive diesel gate scandal by bringing in a new era of all-electric vehicles. Volkswagen looks to blend self-driving features in all of the I.D. production models.
Similar to other I.D. concepts, the crossover can drive fully autonomously and has a steering wheel that will electrically retract into the cockpit.
