Volkswagen Joins Forces With JAC Motor To Build Electric Cars
Volkswagen and Jac Motor have received the go ahead signal to build electric cars in China and plan to build one lakh cars a year.
German carmaker Volkswagen and China's JAC Motor have joined forces to build electric cars in China after regulators have approved a Joint Venture between the two companies.
As per reports by Reuters, the two companies have received the go-ahead nod to build 1,00,000 all-electric vehicles a year.
Volkswagen and JAC Motors struck a deal to build cars last year, shortly after Volkswagen announced plans to launch 30 new electric vehicles in the next ten years.
Volkswagen has also been showcasing electric and autonomous vehicle concepts in various auto shows, including the I.D. Crozsz and the Audi E-Tron.
The partnership with JAC Motor is part of Volkswagen's strategy to expand its presence in China, as VW is China's largest foreign carmaker. The German group is working with other companies too, such as SAIC and FAW in other JVs.
Volkswagen had earlier revealed that the carmaker is targeting to sell 4,00,000 electric vehicles in China by the year 2020, and China's new policies regarding air pollution could give VW the right boost.
