Volkswagen Ameo Cup Car To Get 200BHP Engine
The 2017 season of the Volkswagen India's one-make racing series will use the Ameo sedan. The race-spec Ameo is expected to get 200bhp engine.
Volkswagen India will be switching from the Vento to the Ameo compact sedan for the 2017 season of its one-make racing championship.
Now Autocar India reports that the Ameo Cup car will get 1.8-litre engine churning out 200bhp. The car will also get a 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters. The car is reported to lap three seconds quicker compared to the previous cars around the Sriperumbudur circuit in Chennai.
The new Ameo Cup race car will feature a new electronic package. The car is also equipped with features such as launch control, upgraded wheels, tyres and brakes.

The 1.8-litre TSI engine is widely used by Volkswagen Group in India. The same engine powers the Skoda Octavia and Superb. The recently launched Polo GTi also draws power from the same motor.

The 2017 season of the Ameo Cup will witness around 20 drivers on the grid. The Championship will kick-off in June as a standalone race. Later on, the series will run parallel with the MRF National Racing Championship.
