Toyota And Suzuki Held Meeting With Narendra Modi — India's Favourite Cars Could Be 'Made In India'?
Japanese automotive giants, Toyota and Suzuki held discussions with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Both the companies want to venture business opportunities in India.
The officials of Japanese carmakers Toyota and Suzuki held discussions with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on technological developments and business opportunities in the country.
A release issued by Prime Minister's office stated that Toyota President Akio Toyoda and Suzuki Chairman, Osamu Suzuki held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The subject of the meeting was Toyota-Suzuki business partnership and future technological developments.
This partnership is expected to combine Toyota's global leadership in technology and manufacturing, with Suzuki's strength in manufacturing small cars, especially in the Indian market.
The strategic business partnership is expected to enable India to use new technological developments and will result in the local manufacture of components for these technologies.
Hence the partnership will promote ‘Make In India' and will create employment opportunities. It also opens a window for export of new technology cars from India.
Previously, in October last year, the two Japanese automobile manufacturers announced to venture business partnership to strengthen partnership in the fields of environment, safety, and information technology.
Both the companies have agreed to begin detailed research towards the realisation of business collaboration in areas including environmental technologies, safety technologies, information technologies, and mutual supply of products and components.
Suzuki's Indian wing, Maruti Suzuki will be launching the third-generation, 2017 Swift hatchback in the Indian market by late-2017. Check out the photos of the hot hatch by clicking the gallery below.
