Toyota FT-4X Concept Jeep Teased —The Next FJ Cruiser?
First teaser image indicates at an off-road SUV. Is Toyota bringing an FJ Cruiser successor?
Toyota released a teaser image for a New York Auto Show-bound vehicle called the FT-4X, dropping a two-sentence statement titled "Four Wheeling. Scene Stealing."
What could this mean? An FJ40 off-road-themed successor makes the most sense, although Toyota didn't define what kind of vehicle the FT-4X concept is.
The Japanese automaker released an image of an off-road wheel measuring 225/55R18 set in Goodyear rubber.
Historically, Toyota has used the FT moniker on some concepts as it stands for "Future Toyota." The FT-86 moniker came before the Toyota 86 while the FT-1 Concept is the antecedent to the new Supra.
The FT-4X concept teaser is likely providing us with a preview of a new Toyota FJ Cruiser, an off-road ready SUV that was stopped in 2014.
Upon launch of the new FJ Cruiser is setting up a great new off-road SUV segment that will be made up of the redesigned Jeep Wrangler and new Ford Bronco.
Recently, Toyota has been using off-road vehicles to polish its reputation as a rough-and-tough truck and SUV maker.
