Model 3 Cannot Outperform 'Flagship' Model S — Tesla
Tesla has stated that the Model S will be the company's flagship model and Model 3 cannot outperform it. Elon Musk stated that Model 3 is a cheaper version for mass markets.
Tesla is all set to commence the delivery of its most anticipated car, the Model 3 to the customers later this year. But the company is deliberately telling the customers that the Model S is superior to the Model 3.
The reason behind this is, people have mistaken that the Model 3 can outperform the Model S. Although the technology is the same, the Model S will be the top-of-the-range model of the company with all the bells and whistles.
On the other hand, the Model 3 is the cheaper and stripped down version which is suitable for mass markets. Elon Musk stated that some customers are misled by the number thinking it is a version number.
Musk said, "Model 3 is not version 3 of our car. We're probably on version 4 of Model S. And Model 3 will also be version 4. ... It's a little confusing. One is a letter, and the other is a number."
The Model 3 is smaller than the Model S, and it misses out on the dashboard and buttons of a conventional car. The Model 3 is likely to weigh less incorporating better handling.
Tesla's initial plan was to manufacturer an expensive sports car followed by an affordable sedan to the masses. The idea was to develop the technology through expensive cars and then use the same in cheaper cars.
The customers nowadays come to a conclusion that latest is the best. So Tesla had to educate the people on the upcoming Model 3. Tesla also stated that the production of the Model 3 is on track.
