Tata Nexon To Come Only With A Single Engine Option
Sources at Tata Motors said that the Nexon compact SUV would be initially launched with a single diesel engine only.
One of the most anticipated launches in India is the Tata Nexon, a subcompact SUV which will rival Maruti Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
There have been multiple instances of the Nexon being tested on Indian roads and details such as the floating infotainment system display already known to many.
There have been reports that Tata Motors will offer two engines to power the Nexon: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit. Now, sources at Tata Motors said that the Nexon compact SUV would be initially launched with a single diesel engine only.
The 1.5-litre diesel unit will be available with both 6-speed manual gearbox and AMT. The petrol model will be launched at a later date.
The diesel unit of the Tata Nexon is expected to churn out 108bhp and 260Nm of torque, which is class leading in the segment.
The new Tata Nexon will rival the likes of Maruti Brezza, which is also offered with a single 1.5-litre diesel unit, and Ford EcoSport, which is available in both petrol and diesel units.
If the concept or the Geneva edition makes it to production, then the Tata Nexon could arguably be one of the best-looking subcompact SUVs in the Indian market.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Tata Motors is strategizing the launch of the Nexon and wants to take the fight straight to the segment leader, Maruti Brezza. By offering a single diesel model just like the Brezza, customers will have an easy choice to make.
