Spied: Tata Nexon SUV Prototype Caught On Camera Yet Again
The Tata Nexon compact SUV is based on the heavily modified Tata’s X1 platform of Indica.
Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of Nexon compact SUV in the country later this year. The Nexon has been spotted yet again on Indian roads. The prototype model is undergoing several rounds of test before it heads to the production stage.
Latest spy image was shared by GaadiWaadi. The Nexon was showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo and the near-production of the model was presented at the 2016 Auto Expo. The launch date of the new model has not yet confirmed by Tata motors.
Recently, it was reported that Tata Motors is re-thinking about its product strategy of its upcoming models, which are expected to be introduced in the Indian market in the next three years.
The Nexon compact SUV is based on the heavily modified Tata's X1 platform of Indica. Speaking about the exterior design, the model gets company's new generation Impact design philosophy. Once launched, Tata Nexon will take on Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV300 and Ford Ecosport in the compact SUV segment.
Tata Nexon is expected to get a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor, that also does duty on the Tata Zest is expected to generate 89bhp of power and 140Nm of torque.
The diesel engine is expected to deliver 108bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. The transmission duties for both the oil burners are expected to carried out by a five-speed manual gearbox. Tata could also bring Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) version of the Nexon compact SUV.
The Tata Nexon will sport projector headlamps with daytime running lamps (DRLs), a swoopy profile and flowing character lines, Humanity Line on the upper grille and LED tail lamps with chrome accents. Inside, the Tata Nexon is equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with eight speakers, and voice control and command recognition.
