Tata Motors Teases TAMO Futuro Sports Car Ahead Of Debut
Ahead of its debut at the 87th Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors has teased its TAMO Futuro sports car, here is the teaser photo.
Tata Motors announced a sub-brand division, TAMO, a low-investment and low-volume brand which will propel the company future models.
The company wants to be #FutureReady and has announced that it will reduce the number of platforms from six to just two. But the most exciting announcement is the low-cost sports car from Tata Motors.
Tata Motors is referring to the new sports car as Futuro, and has teased the first image of the TAMO Futuro. The teased image of the TAMO Futuro does not provide a full detail of the sports car; however, the TAMO Futuro boasts of aerodynamics much akin to a sports car.
The TAMO Futuro is expected to be mid-engined, two-seater sports car under the TAMO sub-brand and will be priced at Rs 25 lakh. Tata Motors wants the TAMO Futuro to be a halo brand showcasing its exclusivity.
The model will be a limited edition with just 250 units up for sale and could be launched mid-2018. While the TAMO Futuro is positioned as a budget sports car, it will be powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron engine seen in the Tiago, Zest and Bolt models.
There is a catch here though, the 1.2-litre Revotron for the TAMO Futuro will be tuned to churn out close to 180bhp with a turbocharger.
Also, the weight is expected to be below or around 800kg and to achieve the low weight, Tata Motors along with TAMO sub-brand will build the Futuro sports car using composite plastics and aluminium.
Tata Motors is using the expertise of Marcello Gandini to develop the chassis of the TAMO Futuro sports car.
Tata Motors has launched its flagship SUV, the Hexa. The new vehicle from the company is a crossover SUV, yet it possess all the off-road capabilities with its 4x4 drive. Below is an extensive photo gallery of the Tata Hexa, click to view.
