Tata Motors Reveals The Name Of India's First Styleback — Kite 5 Renamed
Tata Motors has revealed the name for its upcoming compact sedan based on the Kite 5 concept from the 2016 Auto Expo.
Tata Motors has revealed that its upcoming compact sedan will be called the Tata Tigor. The Tata Tigor is the production version of the Kite 5 concept that was revealed at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The newly christened Tata 'Tigor' will be the third car from Tata Motors that follows the carmaker's new IMPACT design philosophy after the Tiago and the recently launched Hexa SUV.
Announcing the name Tata TIGOR, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, "After HEXA, we are speeding towards our next market introduction, the Tata TIGOR which opens a new category of style and attitude in this segment. The break-free design dynamics of Tata TIGOR makes it India's 1st ‘Styleback'. We will announce its commercial launch soon and are excited to see the IMPACT of the ‘Styleback' on our customers."
Tata claims that the new Tigor is India's first 'Styleback' and is targeted at young, talented and confident individuals who express their individuality with a unique style of their own. The company also claims that the new Tigor will introduce a radical new silhouette to the segment, which is currently dominated by boxy cars.
The new Tata Tigor is expected to be powered by the same set of engines that currently propel the Tiago, the hatchback the new car is based on. Both the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.05-litre diesel engines will be on offer along with manual and AMT gearboxes. The new Tata Tigor is expected to launch in India in March.
