N Chandrasekaran Appointed As The Chairman Of Tata Motors
Tata Motors has appointed N Chandrasekaran as the Chairman jus a week after he was appointed as Tata Son's Executive Chairman.
Tata Motors has appointed Tata Group's Executive Chairman, N Chandrasekaran as its Chairman with immediate effect.
The appointment comes after a week since Tata Sons announced the appointment of Chandrasekaran as its Executive Chairman, ending a two months battle after sacking Cyrus Mistry.
Popularly known as Chandra, the 54-year-old will take charge of the main holding company, the Tata Sons from February 21, 2017. He will be the first non-Parsi Chairman of the 150-year old company.
At Tata Motors, Chandrasekaran will have to take the responsibility of turning the fortunes of the struggling Indian automaker, which is trying to regain the lost ground in the Indian market.
In a regulatory filing, Tata Sons said, "The Board of Directors have today appointed Natarajan Chandrasekaran as additional director and Chairman of the board with immediate effect".
Chandrasekaran will also have an added responsibility of sorting out the Nano project after Cyrus Mistry alleged that Tata Motors is unable to shut down the loss-making small car due to emotional reasons.
