Skoda To Launch Rapid Monte Carlo Edition In India Soon
The India-spec Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition will be based on the India model but will be styled as the international model.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo India launch is scheduled in the coming months. Skoda is readying special editions of its sedans retailed in India. The Czech carmaker had launched the Octavia black edition earlier and now wants to offer the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition in India.
Skoda launched the Rapid Monte Carlo in 2015 based on the international Rapid. As per Autocar India, the India-spec Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition will be based on the India model but will be styled as the global model.
The Rapid Monte Carlo will come with a red exterior shade and an all-black interior. Also, it will receive an all-black grille, wing mirrors, 16-inch black alloy wheels and tailgate spoiler in the black shade as well.
Inside the cabin, the Rapid Monte Carlo for India will receive aluminium scuff plates, faux-carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, a flat bottom multi-function steering wheel, unique floor mats and upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob and aluminium sports pedals.
Power to the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will come from the same mill which powers the standard model. The 1.5-litre diesel unit with 108.5bhp and the 1.6-litre petrol engine will be available on the Rapid Monte Carlo.
Both the powertrains will be offered with manual and automatic gearboxes. While the petrol motor will come mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic, the diesel motor will be paired to the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will be priced approximately Rs 30,000 more than the regular top-spec model in India. The special edition sedan will rival the likes of the Honda City, the Volkswagen Venta, Maruti Ciaz and the upcoming next-generation Hyundai Verna.

Currently, the Skoda Rapid is the third best-selling sedan in India. With the Monte Carlo Editon of the Rapid, Skoda will be able to position its entry-level sedan competitively in India. Hyundai is all set to launch its next-generation Verna, and the Rapid could be under severe competition.
