Skoda Octavia vRS India Launch Confirmed — The Tuner's Wet Dream Is Back
The launch of the facelifted Skoda Octavia in India will see a crazy performance brand return to the country.
Czech carmaker Skoda is all set to launch the facelifted Octavia sedan in India at the end of June and dealers across the country have started accepting bookings for the new car.
Now, DriveSpark's sources have revealed that a hotter version of the Octavia bearing the much lusted after vRS badge is set to follow the regular sedan into India.
The new Skoda Octavia vRS is expected to be priced at around Rs 5 lakh more than the top-spec petrol model of the new sedan. The Skoda Octavia vRS will be available in India as a limited edition car and only a minimal number of cars are expected to make it into India.
Powering the limited run Octavia is a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that cranks out 227bhp and 350Nm of torque which is sent to the front wheels through 6-speed. The Skoda Octavia vRS sprints from 0-100km/h in just 6.7 seconds and continues accelerating till it tops out at 250km/h.
The new vRS includes all the new design cues that come along with the facelifted car including the spilt headlights. However, the vRS model will feature a few extra details to help it stand out from the regular car including a lowered ride height (by 15mm), larger alloy wheels (18-inches) and a wider rear track compared to the previous-gen car (by 30mm).
Also expected to join in the party is a new exhaust system with flaps in the valves which open up to help the engine roar out its anger at the world.
The Skoda Octavia vRS is expected to be seen alongside the mainstream Octavia when the facelifted sedan launches in India at the end of June.
