Skoda's Best-Selling Car Revealed — Six-Millionth Unit Produced

Skoda produced the six millionth Octavia and rolled off the production line at the company’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav today.

The first-generation Skoda Octavia was introduced in November 1996 and was built at the company's headquarters in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic.

One June 27, 2017, Skoda rolled out the six-millionth Octavia from the same facility invoking a sense of pride for the carmaker as the Octavia is the company's bestseller to date.

​"No other model has run off Skoda's production lines more often than the Octavia," says Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda Board Member for Production and Logistics. "It is the heart of our brand and represents the high performance of Skoda production and logistics. The Octavia has made a significant contribution to Skoda's rise on the global markets."

The Octavia was the first newly developed Skoda model after joining forces with the Volkswagen Group. With its extensive cabin space, the Octavia set new standards in its segment right from 1996.

Former Skoda Chief Designer Dirk van Braeckel designed the first-generation Octavia, and it impressed buyers immediately with a timeless design. A stunning appearance with a large radiator grille enlivened the street scene of the 1990s.
