Back Seat Shenanigans In The Taxi Will Get You Blocked On Uber —The End of The Pub Crawl?
Uber has released a new set of guidelines for riders and drivers. Any sexual conduct or vomiting in the taxi will get you blocked from the Uber app.
App-based taxi provider Uber has come up with a set of guidelines for riders and drivers. According to the new guidelines, any sexual conduct or vomiting in the taxi can get you kicked off the Uber platform.
Vomiting in the taxi due to alcohol consumption is a violation of regulations. The other forbidden actions include unwanted contact with driver or passenger, flirting with other people and the typical Indian habit, asking overly personal questions.
These guidelines are applicable in all Indian cities where Uber has its presence. Due to rising complaints against the drivers and counter-complaints against the riders, the new guidelines has been rolled out.
But a single incident will not get you kicked off the Uber platform. According to guidelines, depending on the nature of event, the company will investigate and might put your account on hold during the investigation period.
The statement from Uber reads, "If the issues raised are serious or a repeat offence or you refuse to cooperate with the driver, you may lose access to Uber." The guidelines have been translated into 10 Indian languages, and an official stated that the rules had been tweaked to reflect local sensibilities.
The official further said, "This helps ensure for example that a rider in Chennai has largely the same experience and expected behaviour outcomes when he books an Uber in San Francisco or London."
The Uber statement says, "When drivers use Uber, they do more than simply drive: they're sharing their own car, their space, their time and a slice of who they are with passengers."
Drivers breaking the rules have also been categorised. For example, repeated refusals, cancellations and dip in star ratings will get the driver blacklisted along with some other actions. Drivers cannot discriminate the rider based on the location, religion and disability.
