Renault Kaptur To Be Launched This Festive Season In India
According to reports Renault will launch its new compact SUV, the Kaptur in the Indian market during this year's festive season.
Renault Kaptur is all set to hit the Indian market by this year's festive season. Yes, the compact SUV will be launched in India in the third quarter of the financial year 2017-18.
Multiple sources have confirmed ET Auto that the Kaptur will be launched in India during this year's festive season. Earlier Renault had confirmed that it will launch a new product every year in the Indian market.
The Renault Kaptur which will be launched in India is based on the Duster SUV, but the model sold in the European and Middle East markets is based on the Clio platform.
Renault will slot the Kaptur below the Duster in the Indian market. The compact SUV will be manufactured at the Oragadam plant with over 80 percent localisation of components.
It is expected that the globally sold model's design cues will be carried forward to the Indian market. The front fascia of Kaptur features bold Renault logo with gloss black background, LED headlamps and honeycomb mesh front grille.
On the interior, the Kaptur will get the same infotainment system which is deployed in the Duster SUV. Apart from that, it may get refreshed new trim finish in all-black or beige and black.
Although Renault has not revealed the engine specifications, the India-spec Kaptur is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. To be competitive in its segment, Renault might also offer automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive at a later phase.
When launched in the India Renault Kaptur will take on its segment rivals such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300.
