Renault Duster Petrol (Automatic) India Launch Details Revealed
The petrol automatic Duster will be powered by the same 1.6-litre engine from the current model; to be paired to a CVT gearbox.
Renault will expand the Duster range in India with the introduction of a new petrol automatic option.
As per carandbike, the compact SUV will be launched in May 2017. The Duster is already available with a 6-speed AMT option, launched last year on the diesel variant; however, the petrol model will be mated to a CVT gearbox.
As for the powertrain, the petrol automatic Duster will continue to use the 103bhp, 1.6-litre engine which currently powers the petrol manual model.
With the launch of the petrol Duster automatic, the French carmaker looks to add more appeal to its slow-selling petrol Duster as customers seem to prefer the diesel models.
Confirming the petrol Duster automatic for India, Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India said, "We are launching the all-new petrol Duster with CVT, so we bring automation there also,"
While the Duster petrol manual available in the mid-level RxE and RxL variants, it is not known which variant will get the new gasoline powertrain.
The Duster petrol CVT will allow Renault to rival better such as the Hyundai Creta and the Honda BR-V, both of which are available with the option of a petrol automatic variant.
The CVT petrol Duster model should return fuel economy rating of about 14 km/l, as compared to the current manual gearbox model's fuel efficiency rating of 13.06 km/l.
