Renault India Records 9.2 Percent Growth In Sales In December 2016
Renault India has recorded a growth of 9.2 percent in the month of December 2016 riding high on its small car, the Kwid.
Riding high on the small car Kwid, the French car manufacturer has recorded a growth of 9.2 percent in the month of December 2016.
Renault managed to sell 11,244 units in the month of December 2016 compared to the 10,292 units sold in the month of December 2015.
Renault posted a cumulative growth of 146 percent in the calendar year 2016 by selling 1,32,235 units against the 53,847 units in 2015.
Renault has been on the right track in the Indian market since the launch of its entry-level small car, the Kwid. It was launched a year ago and has garnered over 1.65 lakh bookings and crossed 1 lakh sales figures in December 2016.
The Kwid is offered in two engine options, a 799cc three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Renault recently launched the AMT version of the car in the Indian market.
The 799cc engine produces 53bhp and 72Nm of torque, whereas the 1-litre motor churns out 67bhp of power and 91Nm of peak torque.
Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations, Sumit Sawhney said, "We are on track with a 4.5 percent market share at the end of 2016 achieving a robust three-digit growth over 2015. Our focus for 2017 will be to continue and build on our growth journey, reflecting our long-term commitment to the Indian market."
He added, "We plan to launch at least one new product every year, over the next 5 years, beginning with some exciting product innovations starting this year. We will continue to build our network this year as well, with strategic measures to make our cars more accessible to customers across the country."
