Plug-In Range Rover Is Actually Happening — Has The World Gone Mad?
Plug-in variants of the Range Rover are currently testing ahead of potential launch next year.
British luxury SUV manufacturer Land Rover is currently testing out a new version of its flagship Range Rover SUV, that should placate the environmentalists clamouring for it to go green for some time.
According to Autocar, Land Rover's prototype Range Rover plug-in hybrids are out and about putting test miles on the clock out in the wild.
The new plug-in hybrids are expected to get a few tweaks regarding styling with models specific lights and the charging port taking charge of the grille. The port will charge the battery pack placed under the large floor of the Range Rover.
Providing power to the new Range Rover variant along with the electric motor is Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Ingenium 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The JLR Ingenium engine kicks out 295bhp and along with the electric motor will send power to all four wheels.
The new electrified Range Rover variant is expected to hit the roads and the off-road paths across the world in 2018.
