Nothing Seems To Stop 91-Year Old Queen Elizabeth II From Driving Her Jaguar X-Type Sportwagon
Queen Elizabeth II was seen driving her Jaguar X-Type Sportwagon back home from church revealing her love for driving cars.
Queen of the road! 91-year old Queen Elizabeth II was spotted driving here Jaguar X-Type Sportwagon on her way back from Church.
Usually, the Queen of England is chauffeured around in a Bentley or Rolls-Royce for most of her state affairs. However, most of her personal daily routine, the Queen prefers the Jaguar X-Type and the sight of her driving the car along with her trusted security personnel was a sight to behold.
The Queen of England is known for her love for driving and is frequently noticed in her cars on the Sandringham estate. The Queen learned to drive when she served as a mechanic in the Women's Auxillary Territorial Service during World War II.
She is the only person in the UK who is allowed to drive without a license. The reason why the Queen doesn't require a driving licence is that she is above the law.
However, Her Majesty doesn't test this advantage. Admittedly, in a clearly worded article on the official British Monarchy Website, it says: "Although civil and criminal proceedings cannot be taken against the Sovereign as a person under UK law, The Queen is careful to ensure that all her activities in her personal capacity are carried out in strict accordance with the law."
While we aren't entirely certain about the specifications of her Majesty's Jaguar, the model, in general, used to come with a 2.5-litre or 3-litre V6 petrol unit with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The powertrains were available with either a 5-speed automatic or 5-speed manual gearbox.
Last week, her Majesty's husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh announced his retirement from public life. While her husband might have slowed down, nothing seems to stop the Queen of England and we are indeed awed by her spirit.
