Porsche Centre Bengaluru has welcomed a very special variant of the 911 sports car to India. The 911 R was purchased by a Porsche collector in Bangalore and is the only one of the 991 units produced globally, that will ever be seen on Indian roads.
The Porsche 911 R features technology from the race track siblings. Powering the limited edition Porsche is a 4-litre six-cylinder, naturally aspirated flat engine producing 500bhp and 460Nm of peak torque.
The Porsche 911 R is a cornering specialist, with a specially tuned standard rear-axle steering which guarantees enhanced direct turn-in characteristics and precise handling while maintaining high stability.
The body of the 911 R comprises of lightweight components borrowed from the 911 GT3 which can be altered for road use. The car sports retractable spoiler and rear underbody diffuser to provide necessary downforce.
The bonnet and wings are made out of carbon, whereas the roof is made of magnesium. The rear windscreen and side windows are manufactured using lightweight plastic. The overall weight of the car stands at 1,370kgs.
The interior of the car features carbon bucket seat, a 360-millimetre "R-specific" GT steering wheel and R-specific short gearshift lever. Embedded aluminium badge on the front passenger's side indicates the limited number of 911 R.
Commenting on the arrival, Porsche India's Director, Pavan Shetty stated: "The 911 R epitomises the Porsche brand, with the clear design DNA of a classic 911 while performing as a racing car should."
