Porsche 911 Hits Another Significant Milestone

The 911, a sports car for everyday driving and a style icon which is an integral part of the Porsche brand. In Zuffenhausen today, Porsche rolled out the one-millionth 911 off the production line - a Carrera S in a unique colour "Irish Green."

Porsche says that the 911 remains "the most strategically important model in the product range," and has made "a huge contribution to maintaining Porsche's position as one of the most profitable car manufacturers in the world."

Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Porsche AG, who's been a part of the development of the 911 since day one, commented, "Fifty-five years ago, I was able to take my first trips over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with my father,"

"The feeling of being in a 911 is just as enjoyable now as it was then. That's because the 911 has ensured that the core values of our brand are as visionary today as they were in the first Porsche 356/1 from 1948."

The iconic brand says that more than 70 percent of all 911 manufactured over the years are still in good condition and ready to be driven. Porsche claims this is possible because of the "legendary" quality of the 911, which can "consistently be found at the top of quality rankings."

This high quality is a result of the company's manufacturing process, which is still taking place at Porsche's headquarters in Zuffenhausen, where all 911s are assembled.

Now, all two-door models of the iconic brand, including the 911, 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman, and all their other versions, are produced on a single production line.

The one-millionth Porsche 911 will not be sold. The one millionth Porsche 911 model will embark on a promotional world tour - from the Scottish Highlands, around the Nürburgring, and in the USA, China, and beyond, before it moves on to contribute to the collection at the Porsche Museum in Germany.
