Next-Generation Volkswagen Polo Teased In Preview Video
The VW Polo is almost ready for its sixth-generation. A car which has sold over 14 million units since 1975 and is one of VW's longest enduring nameplates.
It all began in 1975 when German carmaker, Volkswagen introduced the Polo to the world. Since then the company has sold close to 14 million units of the premium hatchback.
Now, after five generations of the VW Polo, the company has teased the sixth-generation Polo through a preview video. Though the preview video does not reveal much of the new Polo, we can see that the next-generation Polo will receive halogen daytime time running lights (DRLs) compared to the LED DRLs.
Design-wise, there are no significant changes and looks more of a facelift. However, the new Polo will sit on an all-new platform, the MQB A0 which underpins the SEAT Ibiza as well.
The new Polo is expected to be big in size but will be lighter, thanks to its new platform. Volkswagen is expected to offer a range of diesel and petrol powertrains for the next-generation Polo, mated to DSG automatic gearbox or manual gearbox.
Volkswagen will officially reveal the next-generation Polo at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show to be held in September 2017.
India is expected to receive the new Polo in 2018 and could spawn the Ameo and Vento variants, though it could take longer to launch as opposed to the new Polo.
Now, sit back, relax and watch the preview video of the next-generation Volkswagen Polo.
