Design
The new 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire compact sedan features a redesigned front end, including a new grille and reworked bumper. The Dzire now gets auto LED headlamps with daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, and LED tail lamps too. The new Dzire looks sharper, and sportier compared to the outgoing model.
On the inside, the Dzire gets a new dual-tone dash finish, along with a new flat-bottomed steering wheel. Maruti Suzuki has also been generous with chrome, which adorns the instrument cluster, gear lever, and the door handles.
Features
Speaking about the new Dzire's interior and creature comforts, the compact sedan comes with a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, a 7-inch infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Mirrorlink.
For the first time, the new 2017 Dzire comes with an aircon vent for the rear, while the ORVMs can now be retracted with a push of a button. The rear seat will sport an armrest too.
Safety
Safety is a critical aspect for all carmakers. The Dzire is built on a stronger, lighter HEARTECT platform. The car meets off-set, side, and passenger crash safety regulations, while the manufacturer has equipped dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.
The safety of the car, however, is in question as a recent incident that involved a new Dzire surfaced, which left the car in a mangled mess. Although the crash could have been the case of a high-speed incident, the question of safety arises.
Engine Specifications And Gearbox
Moving on, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire compact sedan will carry forward the existing engine lineup, a 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine.
The 1.2-litre petrol motor produces 82bhp and 114Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre diesel mill makes 73bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both engines will come paired to a standard 5-speed manual gearbox while an automatic (AMT) unit is optional on both variants.
Mileage
Maruti Suzuki is good at answering the ‘Kitna Deti hai' question as it was Maruti's ad strategy. The diesel engine returns a mileage figure of 28.4km/l while the petrol engine delivers 22km/l. This is possible because the new Dzire is almost 100kg lighter than the model it replaces.
Colour Options
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be offered in a host of exterior colour options, including Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Magma Grey, Silky Silver, and Arctic White.
Competition
The 2017 Maruti Dzire will compete with other compact sedans in the market that include the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze, and the Ford Aspire.
