Next-Generation Hyundai Verna Teased — Launch Imminent?
According to Hyundai, the new Hyundai Verna is bigger and better of driving dynamics; will be launched in August 2017.
The executive sedan segment is getting all the more exciting with Hyundai all set to launch the next-generation Verna. The South Korean company will launch the new Verna in August 2017.
Ahead of its official launch, Hyundai has teased the upcoming Verna. From the image, we can see the LED DRLs similar to its elder sibling Elantra and the front profile of the new Verna too looks very like its bigger brother.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna follows the company's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The Verna will lock horns with its traditional rival Honda City, the current top-seller Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the current third best-selling executive sedan Skoda Rapid.
The new Hyundai Verna has been tweaked to offer better driving dynamics. The chassis of the 2017 Verna has been updated utilising high-strength steel which makes it lighter and stronger. The suspension has been tweaked as well.
The wheelbase of the new Verna has been increased by 10mm and the overall length of the sedan by 15mm. The width of the new Verna has been increased as well by 29mm. All these increases in dimensions will offer a spacious cabin compared to the outgoing model.
Interiors too have been updated, and the new Verna will feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration options.
Engine options might be retained from the current model to keep the cost low. The current Verna is offered with the option of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre units with the choice of either a manual or an automatic gearbox.
Prices for the new Verna is expected to be in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variants.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Hyundai Verna performed well in the Indian market when it was first launched. However, with time, the Verna lost its appeal as its rivals offered better features. With the new generation expected to feature of the modern features, the new Verna will indeed challenge its competition.
