2017 Hyundai Sonata Launched
The new Hyundai Sonata has been launched and it is only a matter of time till the sedan makes its way to India. Read on for more details.
The Hyundai Sonata was the South Korean carmaker's flagship sedan sold in the country. Sales were not impressive, although the car was. Now, the new Hyundai Sonata sedan has been officially launched in Korea, and this raises the question — Is this the one for India?
Before we get to that question, let's see what the car has to offer. The new Hyundai Sonata follows the company's latest design language, and the car looks sharper than its predecessor. The car features vertical daytime running lights, a sculpted hood, and character lines that will appeal to a lot of buyers.
Regarding upgrades, the interior features a new air conditioning system, ventilation, audio and heating controls, as well as a 7-inch colour touchscreen as standard, while an optional 8-inch display is also available.
On the safety front, the new Hyundai Sonata gets Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist, Dynamic Bending Lights, and Lane Keep Assist.
Powering the new Hyundai Sonata are a choice of engines: 1.7-liter VGT delivering 139bhp, 1.6-liter T-GDI producing 177bhp, a 2.0-litre unit delivering 160bhp, and finally, a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine making 241bhp.
Now, answering the question — will the new Hyundai Sonata make it to India? The answer is yes since all generations of the Sonatas were sold here. What we will have to wait for are the engines that will be offered in India.
The updated Hyundai Verna is also set to make its debut in India soon, and below is the new Hyundai Verna detailed in the image gallery.
