All-New Honda City, Jazz And Amaze India Launch Details Revealed
Honda is working on new models of the City, Jazz and Amaze which will be launched in India in the next 12 to 36 months. The new Honda Civic will be launched in India as well.
India's fourth largest carmaker, Honda Cars India, will overhaul its entire product lineup by 2020 to keep off competition from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
Honda is working on new models of the City, Jazz and Amaze which will be launched in India in the next 12 to 36 months.
The company has changed tactics to realign itself to the preferences of the Indian market. It will focus on the premium segment that includes executive sedans and premium hatchbacks and move away from its previous plans of becoming a mass market manufacturer.
As per Moneycontrol, an industry source said, "The all-new City and Jazz have been in the works since 2015. The City has been the flagship of Honda despite other significant product introductions by the company in other segments. This new City and Jazz will get launched in India in 2020,"
In India, the Honda City continues to be its largest-selling model with average monthly sales of 4,800 units in 2016. However, the Honda City has a strong competitor in the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which sold 5,400 units during the same period.
With its previous focus on the mass market segment, the company had launched the Brio hatchback to rival the Swift. Also, Honda launched the Mobilio, its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to counter the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Sources say that the Brio production could be stopped owing to lower sales and volumes. The Mobilio was stopped, and the company does not have any plans to continue its sales in India.
An industry source said, "Globally, there is the new Brio coming in. But Honda will most likely not bring it here. However, the new Amaze, which uses Brio's platform will replace the existing Amaze when it gets launched in the next 12 months",
With inadequate response to Honda's Brio and Mobilio, the company will focus on its premium offerings such as the City, Jazz and the Amaze. Also, after five years of gap, the Honda Civic will make its way back to India.
