2017 Geneva Motor Show: Aston Martin Reveals New AMR Brand

Aston Martin's — Aston Martin Rapide AMR and the Vantage AMR Pro are two new concept models under the AMR badge that will be put to production.

Aston Martin has revealed its new high-performance brand - AMR in at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. The company has showcased two new concepts which, will make it to the production line - Aston Martin Rapide AMR and the Vantage AMR Pro.

What does AMR stand for? 'Aston Martin Racing' the name of the British racing outfit established in 2004 in partnership with Prodrive. There will be two distinct types of car which will be offered under the badge - AMR.

The AMR cars will undergo visual upgrades and minor parts changes, while, on the other hand, the AMR Pro cars will be much more heavily biased towards track driving. Moreover, the AMR Pro will be produced by Aston Martin's ‘Q' division.

Both the AMR and the AMR Pro models will be featuring outstanding exterior and interior styling. Meanwhile, the Pro Vantage gets more power and sharper dynamics. The AMR badge is set to feature across Aston's range in the near future.

Speaking about the car, the Rapide AMR will have a massive 6.0-litre, V12, engine under its hood. The will also feature a large quad-exit exhaust system that will make the car sound amazing.

Other features include - a new carbon-fibre front splitter, side sills, a new rear diffuser plus a lip spoiler on the boot lid, new 21-inch alloy wheels, and a redesigned honeycomb pattern grille.

Step inside the Rapide AMR and you will find the cabin fitted with lightweight carbon fiber sports seats. The center console and door casings are also made from the composite. Vibrant lime green accents are dotted around the interior.

On the other hand, the Vantage AMR Pro being a race-spec car houses a 4.7-litre, V8 engine under its hood, The unit has been borrowed from the Vantage GT4 racing car. The engine is capable of pumping out 500bhp of power.

The AMR Pro also gets the race-spec fully adjustable suspension, transmission mounts, and 19-inch center locking wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rubber tires.

On the outside, the bonnet and huge rear wing of the Vantage AMR Pro are lifted directly from Aston's Le Mans battling Vantage GTE. Other features include - a full-length honeycomb grille, a new front splitter, and tweaked rear diffusers.

Being a race-spec car, the AMR Pro's cockpit is entirely made up of carbon fiber for weight reduction. It also features Alcantara upholstery, more lime green accents and a made-to-order roll cage.

Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin has said that both the cars will be hitting the production line. Moreover, the Rapide AMR will be limited to 210 units, while the Vantage AMR Pros will only be restricted to 7 units.
