Mercedes Team Announces The Launch Date Of 2017 F1 Car
Mercedes AMG Petronas team will enter the 2017 season opener in Australia in March as favourites for a fourth successive title.
Formula One's dominant team and the champions for the past three years, Mercedes will unveil the 2017 F1 car at Silverstone on February 23. Mercedes has become the second team to reveal the launch date of the 2017 race car.
The Mercedes AMG Petronas team is yet to announce a replacement for the retired world champion Nico Rosberg. The team said nothing regarding the driver who will join Lewis Hamilton.
The first team to announce the launch date of the 2017 F1 car was Ferrari but Mercedes will pull the covers off its W08 a day before the Italian team's unveiling. Ferrari is set to present its prototype at the Fiorano Circuit on February 24.
On the day of unveiling, the Mercedes team will film the car at the British race track for the first time. The team will also give fans who register for a prize draw on Facebook to win VIP access to see the first laps of the 2017 W08 challenger.
The German factory team won 19 of 21 races last season and started all but one from pole position. Rosberg won nine Grand Prix in 2016 and went on to win the driver's championship. On the other hand, Hamilton claimed 10 victories and finished the campaign as a runner-up.
The official pre-season testing will commence at Barcelona in Spain on February 27. The new season will see wider tyres, faster cars and improved aerodynamics.
Mercedes will enter the 2017 season opener in Australia in March as favourites for a fourth successive title but they are likely to face a tough competition from rivals Red Bull and Ferrari.
