Mercedes S-Class Facelift Debut Set For April — The New Techno Luxury Benchmark?
The facelifted Mercedes S-Class is set to debut next month and will bring with a host of tech upgrades specifically with the driver assistance systems.
The Mercedes S-Class is considered the benchmark luxury barge for the road for those who want to be chauffeured around in the lap of luxury.
The facelifted version of the current-generation Mercedes S-Class (W222) has been undergoing testing for a while now. AutoExpress has revealed that the new Mercedes flagship "will be revealed fully within the next month."
The new Mercedes S-Class could debut at either at the New York Auto Show or the Shanghai Motor Show, both of which take place next month. However, don't expect any significant design tweaks as most of the changes will lie under the metal skin of the luxury barge.
The new facelifted S-Class will bring in a new in-line six-cylinder petrol engine along with new four-cylinder and in-line 6-cylinder diesel powerplants. The petrol engine will sport the 48V electrical system. The V8 and V12 engines will be retained as well.
The facelifted Mercedes S-Class will also make use of various autonomous driving aids including the Parking Pilot Assistance system seen in the new E-Class LWB in India.
Other driving aids include the Active Brake Assist system, Active Distance Assist Distronic with Active Speed Limit Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and the semi-autonomous Active Lane Change Assist.
