Lewis Hamilton’s GP Winning 2013 Season Mercedes Formula One Car Is Up For Sale
The Grand Prix Winning Mercedes W04 Formula One car driven by Lewis Hamilton is now being sold by Mercedes.
Formula one cars are a rare breed. Apart from the fact that only a handful of them exist, the rarity factor is also upped by the popularity quotient of the driver who had driven these cars. So one would expect these cars never to be sold but seems like Mercedes-Benz is out to prove this wrong.
Mercedes-Benz has put the Mercedes W04 Formula One car on sale through its 'All Time Stars' program, something that they had launched to sell select rare automobiles from the corporate collection at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Mercedes W04 is a special car, as it was the very car which was driven by Lewis Hamilton to victory at the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix, and to four more podium finishes in the 2013 season. What makes this even more exclusive is that this was the last Mercedes Formula One car to feature a V8 engine.
Since the 2014 Formula One season, the rules changed and the older naturally aspirated V8 made way for turbocharged V6 engines. This particular car, the Mercedes W04 is powered by one of the older 2.4-litre V8 engines and is capable of screaming its way to a redline of 18,000 rpm, producing between 750 and 830bhp.
The car was equipped with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) while racing. However, there is no word whether it will now be sold with the system. The Price at which the car has been put up for sale has not been revealed yet, but we guess it would be a bit on the expensive side!
DriveSpark Thinks!
The sale of this car would be iconic, as even the Mercedes-Benz 'All Time Stars' program has never sold a Formula One car before. The program has sold quite a few well-known racing cars, but this W04 would be the first Formula One car.
The Person who purchases the car would be able to drive only on the track. However, the person would be very lucky indeed, as this car driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, both Formula One world champions.
