Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept Sedan Teased
Mercedes-Benz has teased in what could be the next-generation A-Class sedan concept ahead of 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the debuts of its updated S-Class along with a concept previewing a new A-Class sedan.
The Mercedes-Benz Concept A Sedan will reveal the future of Mercedes-Benz's compact offerings. The new A-Class is slated for battle against the Audi A3; a future A-Class sedan is said to built on the second-generation MFA platform along with the B-Class and CLA-Class vehicles.
The German luxury carmaker referred to the sculpture as a "vision of a saloon car in the compact car segment," and the Concept A Sedan should give us a better insight into what the A-Class Sedan will look like.
In the short teaser video, we are a treated to a shadowed shot of the concept's front, exposing a more pointed front end and a pair of headlights that are more angular in design opposed to the current A-Class hatchback.
The rear taillights are sharper and longer to befit the Concept A Sedan's larger boot. Mercedes have adopted the "Y-shaped" graphics within them as you would notice on the latest A-Class hatch.
When compared to the CLA, a side-by-side comparison reveals the Concept A Sedan has a less sloping A-pillar. While the rear profile is less rakish compared to the CLA, this should help in the rear headroom department.
More details about Mercedes-Benz's Concept A Sedan will be unveiled when it makes its global debut at 2017 Auto Shanghai soon.
