The Maruti Ignis is available in four variants and deliveries are expected to begin from the second week of February 2017.
Maruti Suzuki's first launch of the year 2017 was the exciting Ignis and the company calls it the premium urban compact vehicle. The Ignis was launched with the starting price tag of Rs 4.59 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi) and is sold via its NEXA dealerships across the country.
The Ignis comes in both petrol and diesel versions, most of all, it has the option of either the manual or the AMT gearbox. Both the versions are in demand across the country and the top variant Alpha petrol with manual gearbox commands a waiting period of close to eight weeks.
The diesel Alpha trim too has a waiting period of close to 12 weeks, while the AMT models are in demand as well.
Talking about the variants and the fuel options, the Maruti Ignis comes in both petrol and diesel versions. The base variant Sigma and the top variant Alpha is offered in petrol only.
The mid variants Delta and Zeta are offered in both petrol and diesel and has the option of either the manual or the AMT gearbox.
Coming to the powertrains, the Ignis petrol engine is a 1.2-litre VVT four-cylinder unit which produces 81.80bhp and 113Nm of torque. The diesel model is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder mill which develops 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.
As the Maruti Ignis is sold through the NEXA dealerships, the Ignis is equipped with dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard across variants. The Ignis competes with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and could compete with Hyundai Grand i10 as well.
The NEXA dealership offers three models including premium hatchback Baleno, premium urban compact Ignis and the premium crossover S-Cross.
The Baleno has been the best-selling vehicle sold under the NEXA showrooms, now the Ignis will generate higher sales numbers as well.
