2017 Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare Flagged Off From Bangalore
The ninth iteration of Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare was flagged off from Bangalore.
The ninth iteration of Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare was flagged off from Bangalore on July 16, 2017. The rally has attracted a strong entry of over 180 rallyists.
For the first time, the route of the Dakshin Dare rally has been tweaked in 2017. The rally will traverse through the adventurous route of South India and will reach its climax in the challenging terrain of West.
The competitors will navigate through the challenging yet breathtaking terrains of Chitradurga, Belgaum and Kolhapur. The rally will conclude in Pune on July 22, followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
The rally is divided into three categories - Endurance, Ultimate Car and Ultimate Bike. The participants will cover a distance of approximately 2,000km over a span of six days. The competitors will undergo a strict scrutiny check before the flag-off to ensure safety.
Winners of the 2016 Dakshin Dare, Team Maruti Suzuki's Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik will be behind the wheel of the Grand Vitara. The duo will battle with Sandeep Sharma and Karan Arya in their Maruti Suzuki Gypsy in the Ultimate cars category.
In the Endurance car category, Jagmeet Gill and Chandan Sen will be driving the Vitara Brezza. They will face fierce competition from Karthik Maruthi and Sankar Anand driving the S-Cross.
Commercial Business Head - South, Maruti Suzuki India, Anand Prakash said, "It's a great feeling to be welcomed each year with such an encouraging response. Moving on from introduction of new test tracks last year, we have introduced another new element by taking the rally beyond its boundaries."
Mobil1 is the official lubricant partner of all three Maruti Suzuki Motorsports hallmark rallies through 2017 - Desert Storm, Dakshin Dare and Raid de Himalaya. The Mobil team was present at the flag-off ceremony of the 2017 edition of Mobil Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare rally.
