Maruti Suzuki Baleno Outsells Swift In India — Time For The New Swift?
Maruti Suzuki sold 16,426 units of Baleno, the highest number ever recorded by the premium compact hatchback, and became the 2nd largest selling car in March 2017.
India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki's premium compact hatchback Baleno is outselling its popular siblings - Dzire, Swift and Wagon R and became the second largest selling car in March 2017.
Maruti Suzuki sold 16,426 units of Baleno, the highest number ever recorded by the premium compact hatchback, thereby growing at a tremendous rate of 163.40 percent. Back in March 2016, the company sold 6,236 units of the Baleno.
Maruti Baleno has been a favourite model ever since its launch, and it also commands a huge pile of pending orders.
Owing to production constraints, Maruti Suzuki wasn't able to meet the demand. However, after opening the Gujarat plant, the Maruti is now able to fulfil pending orders. As of now, Baleno has over 80,000 pending orders and commands waiting a period of up to 20-21 weeks.
Baleno has been become a popular model in India because of its styling, features and most of all it has the backing of the brand 'Maruti'.
With the company launching a powerful variant of the Baleno, the Baleno RS, it has only added to the popularity of the premium hatchback.
Maruti Suzuki sells the Baleno through its premium dealership NEXA along with S-Cross, Ignis and the newly inducted Ciaz sedan.
The Maruti Baleno is offered in both petrol and diesel models. The petrol unit is a 1.2-litre four cylinder engine churning out 83bhp and 115Nm of torque and comes mated to either the 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT automatic gearbox.
The diesel model of the Baleno is powered by the 1.3-litre unit producing 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Baleno RS is powered by the 1.0-litre Booster Jet engine developing 100.5bhp and 150Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
