Maruti Hikes Prices Of Entire Car Range With Immediate Effect

Maruti's price hike ranges from Rs 1,500 to Rs 8,014 and affects every car in Maruti's 18 car lineup on sale in India.

Maruti's car portfolio in India starts with the entry-level Alto 800 hatchback and goes all the way up to the S-Cross compact SUV with prices ranging between Rs 2.45 lakh and Rs 12.03 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).

Maruti released a statement regarding the sudden price hike. The carmaker stated, "The hike in car prices is because of increase in commodity, transportation and administrative costs,".

This is the second time in six months that Maruti has increased the prices of its cars in India.

In August 2016, Maruti Suzuki had hiked the prices of certain models in its range with the prices of the Vitara Brezza going up Rs 20,000 and the Baleno by Rs 10,000. Other models received a price hike ranging between Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000.

Other carmakers like Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mercedes among many others have also increased prices of their cars this month citing a rise in input costs and adverse foreign exchange impact as the reasons for the increased prices.
