Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Goes Premium — To Be Sold Through NEXA Outlets
Maruti Ciaz will be sold through NEXA dealerships from April 1, 2017, and will be offered in a new colour.
With the intention to populate NEXA and to target the premium buyers, Maruti Suzuki will now sell the Ciaz, its mid-sized and best-selling sedan, from the premium sales network.
Maruti Ciaz will be sold through NEXA dealerships from April 1, 2017, and will be offered in a new colour - NEXA Blue. This is in keeping with the NEXA's signature offering on all models in shades of blue.
However, unlike the S-Cross, Baleno and Ignis which may have other tones of blue (Ray/Tinsel Blue) but are also available in Urban Blue - the Maruti Ciaz is not.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will continue to be offered in dark red, brown, white, black, grey and silver. The metallic beige has been stopped to make way for the NEXA Blue.
Mechanically, the Maruti Ciaz remains the same with the option of petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol model is a 91bhp 1.4-litre engine which is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or the 4-speed automatic gearbox, the diesel model is powered by the 88.5bhp 1.3-litre enigne mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti Ciaz competes with the likes of Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento among others, has gained enormous success in the recent past.
The Maruti Ciaz was the first model in the mass segment to offer mild-hybrid technology, which gave the Ciaz diesel an advantage over its rivals. The Ciaz has witnessed a solid growth of 22 percent year-on-year in the current fiscal year.
Speaking of the move R S Kalsi, Executive Officer Sales and Marketing, Maruti Suzuki said, "52% of customers who walk into Nexa showroom - our research shows that they are customers who never had Maruti Suzuki in their consideration set. So when we move Ciaz to the Nexa channel, we expect growth will be far higher than what it has been so far as it will attract new customers too."
The NEXA dealerships have grown to over 250 dealers, and it now covers over 95 percent of areas where the company has seen demand for the Ciaz sedan.
