Maruti Suzuki Alto Regains Its Top Position In The Market
Maruti Alto regained the No. 1 position in the top 10 selling cars for the month of May 2017 displacing Maruti Swift.
Maruti Alto regained No. 1 position in the top 10 selling cars for the month of May 2017.
The ever popular Maruti Alto reclaimed its top position from Swift. Maruti seems to be pushing the sales chart as it gears up to introduce the next generation Swift sometime in 2016 and consequently selling more of the existing model becomes vital than ever.
Maruti sold 23,618 units of the Alto compared to Swift's 16,532 units in the month of May 2017. The company sold 23,802 units of the Swift in April 2017 and took top honours for the month.
However, the Swift could not keep the momentum in May. The Maruti Baleno, on the other hand, made a dramatic improvement to its performance in sales by selling 14,629 units and 85 percent were petrol models.
The most significant drop in sales was of the Maruti DZire, which sold 9,413 units in May 2017. But with the new Dzire launched in India and the subsequent tremendous response in bookings could put the Dzire among the top 3 selling cars in India.
Maruti offers the Alto in 800cc and 1.0-litre guises. With the 800cc model churning out 47.33bhp and 69Nm of torque from its 796cc engine.
The Maruti Alto K10 is powered by a 998cc mill producing 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. While the 800cc Alto comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the K10 comes mated either with a 5-speed manual gearbox or AMT gearbox.
