Maruti Suzuki Aiming 5,000 Service Centres In India
Maruti is aiming to expand its service network by 56 percent by 2020 taking its service centres to 5,000.
The biggest advantage for Maruti Suzuki has been its extensive sales and service network in India. India's largest carmaker wants to continue the trend as it plans to expand its network by 56 percent taking its entire service centre to 5,000.
A Japanese business daily reported on Friday quoting Suzuki Motor Corp president and CEO Toshihiro Suzuki; he said this while replying to the shareholders' inquiry on how the carmaker is aiming to maintain its pole position in India.
For Suzuki Motor, India is the most important market as it offers over 50 percent of its international sales. Out of 5,000 service centres, 3,000 will operate under the dealership.
The carmaker presently has 2,000 dealerships in 1,667 cities along with 3,200 service shops spread over the country. The company also has an additional 250 premium dealerships through its Nexa outlets.
In the coming three years, Maruti will open 1,000 sales network and 1,800 service centres, more than the current combined sales and service network of three carmakers- Nissan, Renault and Fiat in India.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Maruti Suzuki's biggest strength is its service network in India. And with the new strategy to increase it by 56 percent, the carmaker will further penetrate into the Indian market. This could be a deterrent to other automakers in India and could lead to monopoly leaving the customer with no choice but to opt for Maruti Suzuki products.
