Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg Visits Ford Plant; Helps Assemble F-150 Pickup Trucks
Mark Zuckerberg spent time in assembling Ford F-150 pick-up trucks on the assembly line by adding antennas, cleats and drilling screws.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder, spent time working on a Ford assembly line outside Detroit and explained how tough it is to work on an assembly line.
The visit to the Ford plant was a part of the social media giant's chairman and CEO's "Personal Year of Travel Challenge" to interact with more people and learn how they are living, working and thinking about the future.
Employees at the Ford plant revealed to the 32-year-old billionaire how they are changing and integrating new technology into the design, product development and manufacturing.
Zuckerberg spent time in assembling Ford F-150 pick-up trucks on the assembly line by adding antennas, cleats and drilling screws.
He wrote on his Facebook page, "I played a very small part in assembling some new Ford F-150s on the line by adding antennas, cleats and drilling screws."
He added, "I even signed the inspection sticker on one. You're welcome, future F-150 owner."
Zuckerberg agreed that "Working on the line at an assembly plant is physically hard, and the people I met talked about how tiring it is and how worn down you get.
"Most of the workers I met had been at the plant for at least a decade, and a lot of them have kids and friends who work there, too. Someone told me that when you spend 11 hours a day, four days a week together, you end up becoming family and friends outside of work, too."
The billionaire concluded by thanking Bill Ford, Executive Chairman, Ford Motor Company and everyone else for having him on the plant's assembly line.
