MapmyIndia eLoc Launched — The Nation-Wide Digital Address Tool
MapmyIndia has launched eLoc service in India, which can navigate to a particular address with a 6-digit code.
Mapmyindia, the navigation technology provider has launched eLoc, the country's first nation-wide digital address tool. The tool is aimed at making doorstep navigation easy and quick.
eLoc is basically a 6-digit code, that has all the address information built in. By simply entering the eLoc code, one can get turn-by-turn directions to the exact doorstep of that particular address.
MapmyIndia believes with the introduction of eLoc, the necessity to enter multiple lines of address can be eliminated. The 6-digit eLoc code is also easy to remember, share, type, and search for.
According to an official statement, "When a person, business or official searches for a place by entering its eLoc, they can see the precise map location of that place, get turn-by-turn directions to the exact entrance doorstep of that place, and also see information about that place besides its location, such as reviews, photos and other information provided by the place's owner, businesses and governments."
MapmyIndia has currently generated over 2 lakh eLoc codes across the country. Also, users can add new eLoc codes to the database through the company's website or mobile app. This will then be verified by MapmyIndia before it goes live.
MapmyIndia is open to partnerships with other navigation providers who can integrate eLoc services. The company sees huge potential for businesses too, like e-commerce, which involves door-step deliveries.
