Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra is testing the petrol variant of the XUV500 in UAE.
Small petrol cars are an affordable option for many buyers in India, but the same cannot be said when it comes to petrol SUVs. But there are several international markets where petrol SUVs are in demand.
Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra is also working on the petrol variant of the XUV500. The petrol version of the SUV was spotted in UAE.
The petrol variant of the XUV500 was on a road test, and the pictures were posted on 4x4 India Facebook group. According to the driver of the test vehicle, the SUV has been assigned to cover a distance of 1,00,000km.
The driver of the petrol XUV500 also said that the vehicle had already done 70,000km. The petrol variant of the SUV is likely to launch in UAE by the end of this year.
The XUV500 petrol was equipped with an automatic gearbox. The new petrol motor is likely to be developed with Ssangyong and powertrain partner ALV Austria.

The new petrol engine is likely to be a 2-litre four cylinder unit. There is also a possibility of a turbocharger being deployed in the engine. The engine is expected to churn out around 150bhp.
Mahindra is likely to offer both manual and automatic transmission with the petrol variant of the XUV500. An all-wheel-drive variant is also expected. Apart from the engine, there are no other significant changes to the SUV.
